9. SUMMARY OF COUNSELING (Give details, facts, specific dates, times, names, sequence of events, etc.) |
||
It is my responsibility, as a supervisor who cares for both his troops and the mission, to identify and correct incidents that affect our ability to meet our goals. Yesterday, I was made aware of an incident at the going-away luncheon for SSgt Smith. Several witnesses saw you consume at least two beers and then get in your car and drive away. This is a violation of Article 111 of the UCMJ. I don't know what your tolerance for alcohol is or how impaired you were but I want to point out that this behavior is dangerous. Intoxicated driving is the number one cause of traffic fatalities and is a danger to you, your passengers, and any pedestrians you might encounter. Further, it makes you subject to criminal prosecution and may even result in the loss of your security clearance. Either of these results would negatively affect you and, more seriously, our work center. We cannot afford to lose a member of our team to circumstances that could so easily be avoided. I understand that you did not intend to drive impaired and may not have considered yourself to be impaired but we have to apply the rules evenly across the board. Drinking and driving is not allowed. As your supervisor, it is my responsibility to correct unacceptable behavior. If I see or hear of any other incidents of driving after drinking, I will personally initiate Article 15 paperwork to prevent this kind of thoughtless behavior from threatening the success of our team. |
