The resumé is required for some special duty positions and is the single biggest factor in whether you are selected for the desired position.
Application for most special duty positions is not done in person and your resumé is normally the first and only impression a potential employer will have of you. It is your only opportunity to present yourself and express your qualifications. The way it is written and how it looks showcases you, your administrative skills, and your experience and qualifications. For all intents and purposes, it is you. For the best chance of selection, your resumé must completely, accurately, and clearly list your attributes. In addition, when applying for specific positions, resumes should be tailored to emphasize qualifications that are relevant to that position.
