Staff Sergeant Benjamin A. Reich distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as the Assistant NCOIC Storage and Issue, 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, 455th Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. During this period, Sergeant Reich provided exceptional supply support to forces directly engaging terrorist networks within Afghanistan in direct support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Within 72 hours of arriving, he reorganized the bulk storage tent, identifying 421 stock numbers, found nine Mission Capability parts and 50 out of balances, valued at 4.4 million dollars and increased bulk storage by 75 percent. Sergeant Reich led in the redistribution of over four thousand zero demand, excess item for F-15, F-16, A-10, C-130, and vehicles, which satisfied 24 worldwide requirements. His methodical warehouse expertise helped validate, inventory, identify and correct 6.2 million dollars worth of reparable asset overages not accounted for on supply item records and increased inventory accuracy rate of his warehouses from 83 percent to 99.5 percent. Additionally, Sergeant Reich's contribution to the zero demand warehouse storage project helped manage and avoid the loss of over 500 line items worth over 1.8 million dollars. Furthermore, his warehousing skills helped expedite the shipment of 140 excess A-10 assets worth 290 thousand dollars to Kandahar Air Field Afghanistan in less than six hours. Finally, Sergeant Reich masterfully pulled 1,225 priority requests, enabling coalition forces to drop over 85,000 pounds of munitions on enemy insurgents to protect International Security Assistance Forces and Provincial Reconstruction Teams. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Reich reflect great credit upon himself, the 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and the United States Air Force.
