Staff Sergeant Margaret A. Blackshear distinguished herself by meritorious service as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Allergy and Immunization Clinic, 412th Medical Operations Squadron, 412th Medical Group, 412th Air Base Wing, Air Force Flight Center, Edwards Air Force Base, California. During this period, Sergeant Blackshear ensured the safety of 14 astronauts and two, two billion dollar operations by recovering national treasure while supporting two space shuttle landings. Additionally, as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Sergeant Blackshear managed the 2011 and 2012 annual Influenza program. Her coordination and oversight ensured exposure avoidance by innoculating over 10,000 military and civilian personnel, resulting in a 90 percent compliance rate within 30 days. Furthermore, her exceptional leadership earned her recognition as an Outstanding Performer which was instrumental to the excellent rating in the '13 Health Service Inspection. Major Melissa V Spicer distinguished herself by meritorious service while serving as Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Career Enhancement, 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, 349th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California. During this period, Major Spicer contributed significantly to mission readiness as the OIC of Immunizations. She collaborated with AMDS SGH and Wing Unit Health Monitors to ensure proper documentation and training was accomplished prior to the administration of small pox vaccinations, increasing the overall readiness rate to 96.3 percent. Additionally, she developed tracking mechanisms for required mandatory IBT education and training, revised the entire training binder, and ensured mandatory training and documentation was recorded in Air Force training records in compliance with AFI 44-102. Through Major Spicer's exceptional leadership, her team surpassed Wing goals for influenza vaccine administration currency and the team's wing outreach efforts reached 2660 members in only four UTAs for a greater than 90 percent compliance rate. Technical Sergeant Manuel D Salinas distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as NCOIC of Immunizations, 457th Fighter Squadron, 301st Fighter Wing, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, Texas. During this period, as NCOIC of Immunizations, Sergeant Salinas oversaw and ran the Immunizations Program for the 457th Fighter Squadron, 301st Operations Support Flight, and 301st Operations Group, ensuring their mission readiness to deploy worldwide. Additionally, his efforts contributed to over 11,300 immunizations being administered across the Wing. Moreover, Sergeant Salinas provided training on Self Aid and Buddy Care for both deployment purposes and operational readiness inspections, contributing to the readiness of over 2,400 personnel Wing wide and ensuring one hundred percent mission readiness for two deployments that generated over 2,000 successful sorties. The distinctive accomplishments of Technical Sergeant Salinas while serving his country reflect credit upon himself, the 457th Fighter Squadron and the United States Air Force.




Senior Airman Anna C. Maher distinguished herself by meritorious service as an Aerospace Medical Technician, 71st Medical Operations Squadron, 71st Medical Group, 71st Flying Training Wing, Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma. During this period, Airman Maher provided comprehensive patient and immunization care to 4,200 beneficiaries. In addition, she attended the Joint Allergy and Immunizations Course at Walter Reed Medical Center, and utilizing this new knowledge, she introduced the smallpox innoculation program to Vance Air Force Base, training five technicians and revising two clinic Operating Instructions. Her unyielding commitment to the success of the medical group's immunization program alleviated 192 traveling man-hours to and from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma for 24 deploying members and contributed to the highest overall influenza vaccination rate in Air Education and Training Command for fiscal year 2012. Finally, Airman Maher's proactive attention to detail was key to both Clinical Medicine's Excellent rating on the 2011 Health Services Inspection and the 71st Medical Group's Excellent rating on the 2011 Compliance Inspection. The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Maher while serving her country reflect credit upon herself, the 71st Medical Operations Squadron and the United States Air Force.




Technical Sergeant Annette M. Pelais distinguished herself by meritorious service as Assistant NCOIC of Immunizations, 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, 349th Medical Group, Travis Air Force Base, California. In this important assignment, Sergeant Pelais' outstanding professional skill, knowledge, and leadership contributed to the unit's outstanding rating on the 2008 Health Services Inspection. She directed the Immunization clinic, maintained and updated on-the-job training records, and encouraged Airmen to be active participants in their career plans. Additionally, she individually reviewed over 200 physical exam records, educated members on vaccines and expected reactions, conducted over 200 physical exams, and reviewed over 100 medical records for accuracy, increasing section accuracy by 50 percent. Finally, Sergeant Pelais volunteered to support several additional Unit Training Assemblies during the 2010-2011 flu season, improving readiness compliance from 87 percent to 93 percent. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Pelais reflect credit upon herself, the 349th Aerospace Medicine Squadron and the United States Air Force.
